The ProblemThe client produces packaged sandwiches. However, at the beginning of the production line, the ingredients and preparation of the fillings was largely over-manufacturing for the amount of sandwiches being produced. This resulted in mass waste of core ingredients and fillings. MJM were asked to design, build and install a device to reduce waste and give an accurate measure of production quantities.

New LED Display Counter Installed

Our SolutionMJM's solution was to have an LED counter for packaged sandwiches, which would be visible to the operators at the beginning of the production line. This would show the total number of completed sandwiches which in turn would allow the production team to monitor the amount of preparation foods being produced. This will eliminate the unwanted wastage.

CommentsBy utilising an infrared sensor mounted at the end of the packaging line, completed sandwiches are counted and shown numerically on an LED display. The production team can then reduce the production of fillings at the start of the line and therefore reduce waste.
Clients wastage reduced by 95%.
