Special Access Platform - Berkshire

The Problem

Following a safety audit, our customer was advised that they had an issue with the way in which they conducted inspection and cleaning of coated rollers within a heating oven.

Their present method had been to use a small step ladder to reach up to inspect and clean and had to gain access by climbing through the machine on potentially dangerous free spinning rollers, set up the ladder between them and reach up into the area above!

Our Solution

MJM Industrial were invited in to advise, design and build a special purpose and bespoke access platform to enable safe access into the machine and provide a safe working area to enable a thorough inspection and clean of the dirty rollers.

Design meetings were held and it was identified that an expanding drawbridge design that was supported on bespoke rubber rollers (so as not to damage the very expensive coated rollers) would be the best option. This design was decided upon due to the minimal opening entrance space available and the length of span we had to achieve through the machine.

The unit has been successfully designed, manufactured, delivered, installed, tested and certified to 200kg SWL (2 persons) by MJM industrial and has also been provided with a comprehensive instruction manual and onsite staff training.
